Common questions

Can I teach in a college with this qualification?
Yes — the Level 3 AET is the minimum qualification to teach in further education, adult education and work-based learning in England.
Is it the same as a PGCE?
No — a PGCE with QTS is required for school teaching. This qualification fully qualifies you for FE, adult education and work-based training roles.
What is micro-teaching?
A short (minimum 15-minute) teaching session that you plan, deliver to a group of peers or real learners, and reflect on — observed and assessed by your tutor.
How do I progress after completing this award?
The natural next step is the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET), followed by the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET).
